We had many discussions leading up to our 1600 mile trek to Nashville. The idea of it seemed a tad daunting, but not overwhelming since our kids handle road trips pretty well. However, I wanted to make sure we did what we could to make it as enjoyable for them as possible. Between what they created for themselves and the surprise my mother surprised them with before we left Phoenix, I wanted to share some road trip activities for the kids. And perfect timing with kids out of school, summer here and trips to be had!

As the date grew closer and closer, the kids had more and more questions. And we did our best to ensure they knew the game plan, what to expect and repeatedly answered them with how long the trip was. 1600 miles and three overnight stays until we were going to finally be home in Nashville. I loved when Blake asked me if she could create a scavenger hunt for everyone to enjoy along the way. All she asked is if I could digitally design it for her – she would do everything else. She brought me her list of items and directed me on what she wanted it to look like. It turned out fantastic and it was a hit on the road! The kids loved keeping busy with it.

I was so thrilled when my mother mentioned she was going to pick up a few things for the kids for their road trip. She came through with the best travel games that made life so much easier and their time in the car so much more fun as well. From travel Bingo to hangman and with their home-made scavenger hunt they really did have a great time.

From the games and activities to having the iPad for movies as well as food on hand, we truly had the most amazing experience on the road. We did have to be patient with more stops since Brooks isn’t even two and needed to get the wiggles out often. But we look back on that trip with the best memories. It went as fantastic as it could hauling seven people, two cars, one trailer, and our entire life across five states. And I am absolutely keeping these activities on hand for the next road trip! We just need to decide where… Georgia, Alabama, Florida… any suggestions? Would love to know about some getaways that are a must and family-friendly!
