The big day is quickly arriving and we are all busy preparing menus and details as we gather friends and family around our tables to feast. Today I wanted to share with you a beautiful DIY gold Thanksgiving tablescape accent and free printables for this year!
I found these mini glass leaf appetizer plates in the dollar section at Target. Always fun finds and these came as a pack of two for only $3! I decided for the price, I wanted to make sure and get a dozen to cover my own table and be able to use for future reasons as well. Check your local store and snag as many as you can of these things! If you are unable to find them, you could simply use faux fruit and even pinecones to make this DIY project happen.
I couldn’t find 12 all in the same color and I didn’t care for the hunter green that some of them came in so I turned to my girl, Martha Stewart. She has a wonderful liquid gilding product that I found and thought I would give it a try in order to create a more uniform and high end feel to the table.
The directions say to use a soft bristled brush, but I found that a 1 inch foam brush worked just fine with smooth brush strokes. And the liquid gilding is extremely thin so one bottle was more than enough to paint all 12 of my leaf accents. If you plan on using this gilding on items that food will be served on then you will want to make sure and add a sealant that is food safe. I am using mine as a simple table accent and I wouldn’t recommend serving food after applying this product on your serving pieces.
The finish is absolutely beautiful – not too strong with a very slight copper tone to it which softens the yellow tone. An extremely easy project and the gilding dries very quickly despite the package saying to wait an hour between coats. I simply waited for it to dry first and then applied a second coat and then let them all sit overnight before doing anything else with them.
The touch of gold was just perfect for the design of this year’s printables! It really helps to bring out the bold black typography and adds another layer to the overall table setting that I think gives it so much more dimension and interest.
Be sure and download the free menu design and thankful card design right here to add to your Thanksgiving tablescape this year. Your guests will love the thoughtful touches and details it brings! Be sure and print them on a white cardstock for best results.

I hope you enjoy this year’s printables! Have you already planned out your own tablescape this year?
