Awhile back, I shared our DIY TV frame project that we completed. I absolutely love the way it has helped elevate our space, but I knew I wanted to tackle how to add digital art to our TV to complete the look. I’m sure you have seen the Samsung TV frame. While it is stunning, I am not going out to buy a new TV if I don’t need to. So I set out to figure out how to create the same effect utilizing the perfectly good smart TV we already have. And guess what?! I cracked the code! So I am going to show you how to turn your smart TV into wall art in just a few simple steps. Keep reading!

First, you will need to find some art that you want to display on your TV. I have found one of the best and budget-friendly spots for this is Etsy! From actual photographic art to illustrated art and everything in between – I have loved finding seasonal options that I can freshen things up with. I have gone ahead and put together a small list of my favorite Etsy shops that have stunning art to choose from.

How to turn your smart TV into wall art:

Now that you have downloaded your digital files, let’s get them installed on your TV. I’m sure there are multiple ways to do this, but I am going to share with you the simple approach I figured out that doesn’t leave you with a bottom corner logo on your image or weird framing around the outside. 

Step 01:

To ensure that your digital art fills the entire screen with no black background, open it within a photo editing app on your phone and crop to 16:9 ratio. You can use an app like Lightroom for Mobile, Afterlight, etc.

Step 02:

Using Google Photos within your Google Drive, you will want to create an album for the images you want to display on your TV. This can be multiple if you want several to loop through a slideshow or simply add one image to the album that you want to be displayed constantly. I simply labeled my album “TV”. Upload the digital art file that you have already cropped to your newly created album.

Step 03:

Next, you are going to turn your TV on and install ‘Photo View for Google Photos’ app. Once installed, open up the app and select the album you set up. Within the settings option, you can adjust what you like to fit your preferences.

Once your TV is inactive and goes to “sleep” you will see your digital art now displayed on your TV! How cool is that? How to turn your smart TV into wall art in just a few simple steps. Easy peasy.
