When it comes to giving gifts, I always try my hardest to make sure it has some sort of deeper meaning. It’s easy just to go and buy things to fill the quota for a day that calls for a gift. However, in adulthood and maybe this is just me, I feel that if there is something I want I simply go out and buy it myself or wait for the opportunity. But when we can give a gift that means something, it embodies exactly what the word calls for. So I wanted to compile meaningful gift ideas for Mother’s Day. Something deeper than just flowers or perfume – something that will be a gift she will love to receive.
A quick side note – I am not affiliated with any of the companies I mention in this post. I simply am sharing companies that I have followed and love the quality of their product or things that I would like to receive myself. Wink!
You know my heart is in photographs, telling our stories, and preserving our personal histories. Mother’s Day is the perfect time to gift something that will allow her to do just that.
I absolutely love the photo album options through Artifact Uprising. I’m a big fan of their quality and offerings in this area.
If she is a paper and pen type of gal, I think the Scrapbook Album would be a perfect option. I also love the idea of compiling an album of photos of the kids and/or grandkids and gifting her. The Everyday Photo Book is one that would work great for this.
Aside from an album, you could give the gift of learning how to better preserve her everyday life. Do you think she would love to finally learn how to use her iPhone camera? Or maybe she would like to learn how to create better home movies? Digital gift cards are available to purchase her a seat to one of my online courses right here. Online, self-paced education will have her taking better photographs, creating beautiful home movies, and be ready to dive in for the upcoming course that will help her finally get organized when it comes to her photos, files, and albums. Upon purchasing a seat, we will even make sure you receive a printable gift card to gift her!
The idea of receiving a custom jewelry piece with meaning behind it makes me smile. Something to wear with symbolism. While I am waiting for my own piece (ahem, Sweetheart!) I wanted to make sure and share with you a company who has the best style when it comes to this kind of thing.
Made By Mary has so many options available, is impeccable quality, and also will ship in time for the holiday! One idea is to gift Mom a necklace with each stamped initial of her kids. Check out the initial collection here. Or the birthstone ring collection is a beautiful idea too!
Nothing says ‘love’ quite like family recipes and the memories of gathering loved ones. Maybe there’s a passed down recipe or perhaps a grandmother’s handwriting that would mean the world to have displayed in her kitchen. A great idea is to frame a handwritten recipe or card and gift it to her. Something from her roots that she will love seeing every time she cooks for her family.
Julie Blanner talks about this on her blog and I think it is such a beautiful idea!
Also, the idea of a framed portrait would be touching to receive. We gathered all of the grandkids and great-grandkids for a portrait and gifted my mother and grandmother two years ago for Christmas. They both had tears in their eyes when they opened them and it meant the world to all of us. Perhaps you have a portrait together from your wedding or maybe one from last holiday season. Artifact Uprising also has framing and matting options available.
A few budget-friendly ideas that are still loaded with meaning:
I know it is a crazy time right now, but I hope this list of ideas helps you as you plan an unforgettable Mother’s Day – one with meaning and one that will honor her in the most perfect way!
