When it comes to summer in the south, dessert isn’t forgotten! It simply cools down a bit – wink! Our family absolutely loves this delicious and easy dessert recipe and we love making it when we have friends or family in our home. Fried bananas and cream! Ever tried fried bananas? The mix of brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon and then hot bananas paired with cold vanilla bean ice cream? It’s addicting and is the perfect dessert recipe to enjoy during the summer months!

Here is what you will need to make this fried bananas and cream recipe:

  • bananas (the amount depends on how many you need to feed)
  • 8 tablespoons of butter (1 stick)
  • brown sugar
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla bean ice cream

First, you want to start by melting your stick of butter in a pan over medium heat. Don’t let it burn, just get it melted.

While your butter melts, slice up our bananas. You can either slice them longways like we do or you can chop them into small slices.

Once your butter is melted, simply sprinkle a generous amount of brown sugar into your pan. There isn’t an exact amount, but you want it to create somewhat of a thicker mixture between the butter and sugar. I would perhaps try with 1/4 cup and then add more as you see fit.

Give them a bit of time to cook and allow the sugar to somewhat caramelize over medium heat. Then simply use tongs to flip them over to the other side.

Fried Bananas and Cream

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

A delicious and easy dessert for the summer months that will have you and your family craving it again and again!

Ingredients

  • bananas (the amount depends on how much you want and how many people you have to serve)
  • 8 tablespoons butter (1 stick)
  • brown sugar
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream (I prefer vanilla bean)

Instructions

  1. In a pan, melt your stick of butter over medium heat, but be sure to not burn it
  2. Slice your bananas
  3. Add approximately 1/4 cup brown sugar to your butter
  4. Then add approximately 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to the mixture
  5. Place your banana slices in your pan and allow to cook over medium heat before flipping to the other side. You want the sugar to just slightly carmalize
  6. Spoon your banana mixture over vanilla ice cream and serve

Notes

This is one of those true home-made recipe and simply calls for you to eyeball the amounts of ingredients you want to use. However, it is incredibly hard to mess this one up. Enjoy!
