I think in another life I must have been a gypsy. A wandering traveler who constantly takes in new surroundings, the open road and adventures abound. I will be the first to say that I adore home, but I just as equally adore a good trip. And a fresh view. There is something about surroundings that effects me artistically. It is often that I feel refreshed in my work when I have upset the norm and tried something new. When I have the opportunity to step out of my usual.

It was a year ago when I met Carina Gardiner at CHA 2014 and heard all about her darling “glamper” that she and her husband purchased and restored themselves. The way she talked about being able to pick up and go anywhere struck a chord. And then I stumbled upon Josh and Jessa Works and their family decision to sell everything and buy an Airstream to live life on the road shortly after and it lit a fire (you can watch their short documentary film by Whole Foods here). For the past year I have been obsessed with the idea of creating opportunities to get away and I have vowed to make it happen. I have big plans for the future and being able to travel the West Coast photographing amazing people and making beautiful memories with my own people. While we love the stability our kids have and the relationships they are creating, we also love the idea of picking up and leaving for weeks at a time.

For the past year I have collected images, inspiration and how-to’s for the day I find my own camper and jump in to get my hands dirty. One look I love is wood flooring throughout for a more home-y feel.

And an updated kitchen? Yes, please!

And as much comfy seating as we can fit would be a must…

I have a long way to go before this all even becomes a reality, but for those of you out there who have renovated a camper or enjoy life on the road, I would love any tips and advice for when we begin the process. Until then, cheers to big ideas. Happy Sunday, all!
