It was about the fifth day of being under the weather last month that I started side-eyeing my closet. I mean, the time to solve all of the problems in one’s life is when you are laid up in bed armed with a laptop, am I right? Between you and me, my closet and wardrobe within it resemble a cross between Lorelai Gilmore and my husband. It’s a hodgepodge of fashion randomness while I wear the same five things weekly. Jeans and a Goodfellow crewneck sweatshirt. But while sick I found myself evaluating my wardrobe (and all of my life choices) and I found myself really wanting to change things up in this area. Like, actually putting effort into my closet and being intentional with what I add to it. Maybe it’s maturing or maybe it’s easing out of survival mode after having our heads down rebuilding our lives after the move. Whatever it is, I spent hours (more on that in a minute) in bed gathering spring style finds for the season.
In my defense of the whole jeans and a Goodfellow crewneck sweatshirt thing? My life is at home and winters in Tennessee leave me a bit uninspired. Not to mention, I am not one to fiddle too much over my daily fashion ensembles. So those $15 Goodfellow crewneck sweatshirts from Target? One in every color, please, and give it to me with a side of female guilt!
Now, if you are a fellow low-maintenance kind of gal you might be wondering, how in the world did you spend hours browsing online for a fresh wardrobe? Well, let me tell you. The fashion options of today? I mean, crimes against humanity. Whatever happened to classic? Whatever happened to timeless simplicity? Whatever happened to buying the whole shirt?! Sans the cigarette burn holes in them, please. Goodness gracious. And I am fully aware that at this point in my ramblings you are either feeling that we are kindred spirits or I have aged myself through my ranting. I mean, I did complain about the music being played the last time I found myself at Target. Draw your own conclusions here.
With all that being said, I gathered up some classic basics that I am loving and adding to my closet. I don’t like consuming just to consume. I would much rather buy a handful of pieces that are better in quality that I can wear through the years. Good fitting denim and classic button-downs? Yes, please. And I will make sure to report back soon on good-fitting denim finds from the fitting rooms. I’m still climbing out of the plandemic hole and brushing off winter over here. Keep scrolling if you love yourself some classic basics too!
This tee is one of my favorite budget-friendly options in my closet. A nice loose fit and comes in multiple colors.
Give me a great cuffed short-sleeve button-down blouse all spring and summer, you know? And this one from Madewell has me excited.
This striped poplin pullover is perfect for the season.
For tees, I love a looser fit and the vintage crew necks from J.Crew are great.
I found this roll-cuff shirt from Banana Republic and I feel like the green option is a way to pull in a bit of color while still staying neutral.
A simple white butt-down can be used so many ways and I love this one from Bohme.
The weather will continue to be chilly for a bit longer and I have been wanting a leather moto jacket for a bit now. I found this one from Asos and then there is this option from Nordstrom Rack. Those are both black options and I think great for evenings out this time of year. I also found this brown leather option from Bohme.
Cardigans are easy to add a layer when needed, I love this one I found on Amazon last month.
For a dressier option, this white blazer would be gorgeous paired with a good pair of denim and some good flats.
And a lighter pullover is nice to have on hand. Loved this look from Bohme.
The Vigoss brand is one that I have always liked the fit of and these distressed skinnies are great.
I will not let go of mid-rise denim ever. Most of the time, they are just more comfortable. I like these ones from Bohme.
And I loved these wide-leg pants from Gap!
These leather flip flops are my favorite from J.Crew Factory and there are so many color options.
And I like these flats for a dressier look.
What about you? Any good spots or luck with spring-style finds for the season? Want to go halfsies on a clothing line?! Wink!
