‘Tis the season and my number one thing I love is handmade crafts and things to decorate the house with. I feel like it brings so much of the spirit and magic of Christmas into our home and makes things beautifully cozy. The kids and I loved doing this pinecone Christmas tree craft the other day and the best part? The supplies are super easy and essentially can be whatever you want them to be! Catch the full walk-through tutorial below or if a video is more your thing, I’ve got that too. Wink!
Pinecones (You can either buy these at your local craft store or simply pick them up outside)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
A base for your pinecone tree (Your local craft store will have options for those. We found these great wood slices, but you could use a wood block or even a cork as well.)
Beads, berries, or pom poms (If you want more color, you can get mini pom poms at your craft store. We found these holiday stems at ours and simply cut off the berries.)
A star for your tree topper (Again, we found a great holiday stem with metal stars that we used, but you can find mini wood stars and paint them or even cut them out of cardboard and paint or cover with tin foil!)
Scissors
Okay, a few notes when it comes to your pinecones. If you are able to find these around outside you may want to rid them of any unwanted to pests. To do this simply preheat your oven at 200 degrees, line a baking sheet with foil, place your pinecones on your baking sheet and bake for about an hour to an hour and a half. This will do the job!
Also, whether you get them from outside or buy them at the store, you will want to choose the pinecones with a flat bottom to make it easy to blue to your base.
I went ahead clipped off all the berries from the stems.
You will then want to adhere your chosen decor to the top side of the needles on your pinecone. Do as much or as little as you would like!
You will then want to give a good coating of glue to the bottom of your pinecone to ensure it stays good and tight on your base.
Go ahead and attach your tree topper to your pinecone
Voila! There you have it! An easy and festive pinecone Christmas tree craft that your little ones will love making with you. The girls decided to put these on their dresser and I love walking in and seeing them every day.
