Last Fall my Macbook Pro died a sad death and I knew that I had to purchase another piece of tech in order to keep up with work demands while on the go and traveling when we do. I figured I would purchase another laptop, but I started to entertain the idea of the iPad Pro. With a larger screen as well as an additional feature like the iPad Pencil, I knew that it just might be the better option. My hesitation was not being able to run programs like Photoshop and other Adobe suite software. However, toward the end of last year Adobe announced that they will be releasing Photoshop CC for iOS this year and it was then that I jumped right into purchasing an iPad to replace my laptop. And you know what? I have seriously loved having it over a laptop. For my Latest Finds and Obsessions: April Edition I thought I would mix things up a bit and share with you my favorite new piece of tech as well as my favorite accessories I have found to go with it!

I new screen size was going to be the biggest thing and wanted to end up with the 12.9″ screen. It really is fantastic and I find that I can do plenty of media and design work without feeling suffocated on a smaller screen. To save on this purchase a bit back at the beginning of the year, I purchased the iPad refurbished. You can do this directly through Apple and I love that their technicians and experts have overseen it, it comes with the same one year warranty as a brand new product and it comes packaged just as it would if you bought it in the store.

The 12.9″ iPad Pro is still extremely light and while I would have loved a white and gold finish, they didn’t have one available at the time. So this one will eventually become just Jarett’s down the road when we are ready to purchase a second.

I searched high and low for the ultimate case and Bluetooth keyboard and finally settled on this gold leather one from Vivefox. And I am so glad I did! First off, the gold finish on the leather is very subtle and very pretty. Not too bold at all. You simply slide the iPad in and it secures it with a velcro closure that is concealed.

I love that the Bluetooth keyboard is unattached, but has a magnetic backing so it easily stays in place when being used. And when it’s not it simply locks into place within the folio.

On the back of the iPad case is the perfect spot to slide in the Apple Pencil for safe keeping.

I did buy the Apple Pencil refurbished which helped save a bit of money as well. You can find them under the accessories section in the refurbished and clearance area of their website. If you are in the market, I would highly suggest getting the second generation Apple Pencil. While I love it no matter what, the second generation received some updated features that I think are fantastic. It is matte white, can magnetically attach to the iPad Pro and also charges that way. The first generation pencil charges via a USB and the small rounded cap at the top is removable to access where to charge it. And that little piece is so small that I am surprised I haven’t lost it yet!

I also love that this iPad case has an elastic strap that keeps everything tight when being carried around.

A recently new accessory that Jarett found for me was this Apple Pencil charger and it is amazing! Before I had this the Apple Pencil had to be charged via USB which also requires a dongle and it’s just a lot of cords and things to charge at night. On top of that, one downside to the first generation Apple Pencil is that when it dies it takes a while to charge back up enough to even use. I’m not sure if this is something that has been improved for the second generation Pencil, but don’t ever let your Apple Pencil die!

Anyway, Jarett found this charging stand by Moko and I absolutely love having it! It simply stays plugged in all the time at my desk and I simply click the Apple Pencil in there each night. I also love that it has a USB port situated on the front of it to charge any other gadgets.

I have really loved the iPad Pro. The large screen is convenient, taking work on the go is convenient especially with things synced through Adobe Cloud and Dropbox. And I also love how accessible it is to use for homeschooling and sharing videos with the kids at the table.

A few of my absolute favorite apps that I have been loving for both design work and organization are:

Feel free to leave any questions below if you are in the market for one – I am happy to share my take on things. And stay tuned for next month’s edition of my latest finds and obsessions!
