Nothing beats a cozy comfort meal when the temperatures are down low in these winter months. Our family craves soups and chilis during this time of year and this recipe will not disappoint. And not to mention that it is quick and effortless. So today I am sharing with you a family favorite: Easy Turkey Chili!
This recipe just has a small hint of a kick to it and a delicious hearty taste. To begin, you are going to chop up one small white onion as well as one green bell pepper.
Toss your chopped onion, green bell pepper as well as the ground turkey into a skillet and saute over medium heat until your ground turkey is no longer pink and until your onion and green bell pepper have softened.
Once everything is cooked, you are going to toss it into your crockpot where you will combine the rest of the ingredients – one jar of salsa, one 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes, two 15 oz. cans of pinto beans, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, 1/2 tsp of salt, two tbsp of chili powder and one tbsp of cumin.
Add your lid and cook your chili on high for 4 hours of on low for 8 hours. The flavors will sit, simmer and intensify to give everything a really great taste.
We dish out our turkey chili, top it with freshly grated monterey jack cheese and serve with slices of sourdough or a french baguette – dipping it in the chili is the best part!
