Last year around this time, I shared my hack to last-minute gift ideas that wow. And I was surprised at how much everyone loved it so I figured we need to do it again. The other day I found myself at Target and thought I would throw together one or two last-minute gift ideas for Mother’s Day. I think “last minute” gifting gets a bad rap, but haven’t we all found ourselves in that situation at one point or another? Whether it’s Mother’s Day or a birthday or even Christmas! The point is to know how to approach last-minute gift-giving in a simple, but still thoughtful way. Let me show you.
First, you want to pick a theme. And because it’s Mother’s Day, we will keep Mom as our focus. What does she like to do? Does she have a favorite hobby? Is she headed on a trip soon? Is she a movie buff or a homebody? Once you have a theme, then you can tie in things she will love all into that theme.
Also, forget the wrapping or gift bag. For this, we want to find something that every piece of the gift can fit into, be displayed well, and also be something she can use again. A win-win for sure!
This one is for the mom who loves to entertain. And the best section if you are at Target? Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, hands down.
Using a darling (and large) colander, I pulled a small wood serving board that would be perfect for charcuterie. I then paired a set of kitchen towels and a matching hand juicer – great for summer drinks and punches! Finally, I added a small faux plant that would be perfect to add to a styled corner of her countertop. Add a bow to one of the handles of the colander and it makes the perfect gift! Not to mention, it all totaled just under $45.
And to be as helpful as possible, I thought I would leave the direct links for you here!
Great, right? And so simple, but she will feel spoiled for sure. Let me show you one more…
This next one is for the mom who needs a little nudge to take a breather, relax, and spend some time on herself. I started with a great basket option and one that she will definitely want to use for something later. Next, I chose the softest pair of loungewear pants. With it, I added a white tumbler, a favorite snack, and a face mask (don’t worry – this one is low-tox!). Whether she just wants to enjoy a good book with some quiet downtime or kick back for a movie at home, this will give her that nudge she needs!
This one comes in at just under $60.
No matter the budget, you can utilize this idea for any occasion, for any person, and on any budget. It’s my go-to way to gift.
And I don’t know, I’m thinking we need a Father’s Day edition this year, right? Leave a comment below if you find these helpful, and I will get my wheels turning for next time!
