*Tap, tap tap*… Is this thing on? Whew. Well, friend. An entire month came and went just like that. Stepped into February feeling really good and then took a deep nose dive into a week and a half of our whole house being under the weather. And then that was immediately followed by an abnormal winter storm that moved through the south and we were literally snowed in. First timer here and it was another long week. But who knew our town could look so gorgeous under a blanket of snow! Sharing all about our winter storms and Nashville snow days with you because it truly was a sight to see! And one for the record books for sure.
We discovered this little one both loves and hates the snow all at the same time. He would ask if it’s cold, look out the window for a bit, then see his siblings rush out the door and he would follow up with a very hesitant “Okkkkkk”. As long as he didn’t have to do any activity that would cause snow to be in his sleeves or down his pants he was good to go! And I mean, seriously… I am right there with him on that one.
There were two waves of the storm we got. The first wave was ice. Complete sleet that fell and kept felling until the ground was covered, cars were covered – I have never seen anything like it. It’s also why we couldn’t go anywhere. It was so dangerous. Then it was followed by tons and tons of snow. We would step outside and it felt like a snow globe the flurries were so thick and the flakes so big. It was magical.
Do we look like total first-timers with baking sheets from my kitchen as sleds? It was all we could think of that would be slick enough and goodness gracious did they work! It was awesome, but I promised the kids we would make sure and find a sled or two for our outdoor collection… just in case of another winter storm in the future.

I shot all of these photographs with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and edited them using the free Lightroom mobile app. If you haven’t discovered my courses on documenting your everyday life beautifully, you can find out more right here.
How has the winter weather been where you live? Our thoughts and prayers have been with those states that were devastated by this storm. Truly incredible the effects nature can have on us. I hope you are safe and doing well. While I am truly ready for spring, the warmer weather, and the boost in energy, these snow days put a smile on my face.
