When it comes to home design, I have always been one to lean towards light, bright, neutral, and simple. However, the more I see of dark interior walls being used, the more and more I like it. This probably shouldn’t surprise me too much considering the approach I took for my home office back in Phoenix. While I can’t do any painting in our current rental, I figured I would scratch the itch a bit. So I have gathered up some of my favorite home design inspiration that help drive this idea home – creating a cozy atmosphere with dark walls.
While I didn’t get to complete my home office design before we moved, I did love the vibe the darker accent wall brought to the space. Since that project in 2018, my tastes have changed a bit. I don’t think I would do a black interior color again, but I have been loving the deep green and navy shades being used.

This study design is fantastic. I love the coziness of it as well as the mix of textures – from the wood floors to the layered rugs. Such an inviting tone. And those paned windows!

I love the use of this navy to bring a little more drama to an entryway space. Not to mention, the craftsman details are stunning.

This next one is so well done as an accent wall. I love the wood tone of the desk paired against the black tone.

This living room and shade of green is gorgeous! I love the contrast between dark and moody and then crisp and bright. And without a doubt, built-ins make me weak in the knees.

For the love of the craftsman! This navy shade is beautiful and brings so much character to this dining room.

Another craftsman that I am swooning over. And the bare wood trim paired with it? Wow.
