I’m sure my current yearning for simple days gone by had something to do with this year’s costumes. However, when I brought it up to the kids their eyes lit up and they loved it. Nothing beats the easy DIY Halloween costume ideas as a mom, you know? Especially when you have five. But there is also something so wonderfully comforting in the simple. This classic ghost DIY costume doesn’t get much easier. The kids and I had so much fun with it so I wanted to share it with you. And it was such a hit at our church’s trunk-or-treat! People were even asking for pictures of all of them together – ha! These kiddos loved it!
I had all different ages and heights to figure out the right size of a sheet for. Turns out a Queen size flat sheet will cover a six-foot, one inch teenager perfectly. And for our littlest guy, I simply used a twin flat sheet and cut off a large portion of the bottom.
Once we gathered our supplies, I found it easiest to trim and cut what I needed with the sheet already on the child. So they stood still while I trimmed the bottoms to ensure they wouldn’t be tripping over their sheet. Then I simply pulled the sheet off their face a bit and cut eye holes so we knew where they needed to be. Their sunglasses then simply slipped into the eye holes over their ears and we adjusted as needed.
I think the best part was the fact that they could wear comfortable and warm clothes underneath without ruining the look of their costume. Not to mention, it really does look so cute with them all together!
