Pulling back the curtain on all that goes on here at Haus of Layne, let’s just say that family life has taken the driver’s seat for a bit while we worked through diving into hackschooling and our sweet Baby Brooks coming down with a ruptured ear drum. While I hate failing on deadlines and not keeping things consistent I have also learned that this whole motherhood thing is a season. And while sometimes it leaves me feeling like I’m failing at other things, I know I will miss it terribly. So if you are here and reading this, know that you are so appreciated and I hope that in the very near future you can count on fun, fresh and honest new content here just as much as you do your morning paper. I’ll get there. And today I am so excited to get to share one of the several festive posts I had planned for the Halloween season! It’s the cutest Halloween spiderweb craft for the kids and we have had so much fun doing them!

Nothing beats little handmade treasures especially during the holidays. And these types of projects are more of a necessity now that we are hackschooling and I want to make sure they still have the space and time for outlets like this. This craft is easy and our little ones love seeing them hung over our kitchen table to enjoy daily during this month. While this post was scheduled to happen so much earlier in the month, I hope that some of you might feel like I am this year and trying to squeeze all the festive fun you can as we near the last weekend of the month before the big night of treating and trickery!

You will need the following list of supplies (I’ve linked them here if you prefer the convenience of Amazon like our family does along with buying in bulk to store for the following year or two to get the most for your money):

Each spiderweb needs three popsicle sticks. We painted ours both white and black. This part of the craft I made sure to prep solo just to keep little ones and acrylic paint from becoming too much chaos.

Once you have your popsicle sticks painted, you simply will want to use a hot glue gun to adhere the three sticks together to create your spiderweb frame. You want to make sure that your crossed sticks are more horizontal rather than vertical. If they are placed too vertically for a taller “X” the spiderweb doesn’t take the right shape.

Then the kids simply choose their choice of yarn color and simply wrap it around each popsicle stick as they work around in a circular way.

The youngest kiddos may need a little bit of guidance in help in figuring out the pattern, but once they get the hang of it they will breeze right through this step.

Once they have finished wrapping their web, we simply cut the string and I adhere the end of it with the glue gun, keeping it to the back of the web in order for it to be more hidden.

Then to finish it off, you simply hot glue your choice of Halloween creature to the web. We bought these bat rings at our local Target and I simply snipped off the ring part. You can do the exact same thing with the spider rings.

And there you have it! A fun and festive family craft that the kids will love doing!
