It had been awhile. Between moving, then tiny living at Grandma’s for three months, and then moving again, Jarett and I hadn’t had a chance to have some time together in between all the real life happening. Two weeks into being here in Tennessee, I said, “I just need dinner”. Luckily Tanner is at the age that we can leave everyone in capable hands and he is wonderful at holding down the fort. I promised him it would just be dinner, but Mom and Dad could use some quiet conversation. And, of course, since we are still so new to the area there was no question about it. Date night on Franklin Main Street it was!

As we enjoyed the music floating throughout the restaurant and the low hum of conversation and laughter between everyone enjoying a meal, I looked out the window and got the biggest grin on my face as I let out a chuckle. There, strolling down the sidewalk with not a care in the world, was an elderly gentleman dressed in a colonial military uniform, his white wig tucked underneath his arm. And the best part about it was that no one passing him did a double take. And he happily smiled at each person that he passed as he headed to where ever he was going. As if it was perfectly normal to be walking down Main Street dressed in period costume.

Jarett and I turned back around and I said with the biggest eyes and smile, “We literally moved to our own Stars Hollow!”

He smiled and replied, “Don’t forget Bluebell”.

If you understand those two references, please know that we are already best friends, OK? Wink! I still can’t get over the quaint and small-town atmosphere of this place. It truly has won our hearts over and I find myself so excited to leave the house every day to discover even more. White’s Mercantile:

White’s Mercantile is by far my favorite store on Main Street. It is filled with unique finds and beautiful pieces. The feel and ambiance of it make you feel right at home while you discover absolute treasures.

I absolutely love that we see American flags everywhere around this city. Displayed with pride and without question – makes me proud to live here.

And yes, Franklin absolutely displays different pennants down Main Street depending on the season or event that is happening. So quaint!

Kilwins:

Kilwins is another must for all of those who have a sweet tooth. A darling shop filled with delicious sweets and even frozen chocolate-covered bananas. Which between the darling accents of Main Street and eating a frozen chocolate covered banana, I felt like I was in Disneyland.

Rock Paper Scissors:

Rock Paper Scissors is such a cute shop. They carry darling gift wrap supplies, stamps, stationery and even do custom stationery in their studio. And for a packaging addict like me, you can only imagine how much I love this quaint little shop!

I love that so many shops put signs outside of their shops with inspiring quotes or cheeky sayings. So much personality oozes out of everything here in Franklin, Tennessee.

Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church:

The historic Franklin Presbyterian Church – such a beautiful site. While the gathering of the church’s community happened back in 1811, this location for the church was purchased in 1842 as the town grew. During the Civil War and occupation of Franklin by federal troops, the church was used as a hospital. The building you see now took place of the original one, but the bell hung in the bell tower is the original one from the 1800’s. Such incredible American history in this part of the country.

Sage Sleep Franklin:

Sage Sleep is another must-visit shop. I walked in here and immediately wanted to take a nap. They have curated the best items for the best sleep. And they also have the sweetest shop dog that will greet you at the door.

55 South:

The first restaurant we decided to try was 55 South which we had heard great reviews on. And it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious and we will absolutely be going back to enjoy another meal as often as we can!

We then realized that all of the shops on Main Street close before 7:00 during the week which derailed our plans for more window shopping. However, knowing our five best friends were back at home and big fans of ice cream we decided to pick them up to enjoy a family-style end to the night. And it was perfect. As is this city and we are so grateful to be a part of it now.
