This last year has been one for the books and if there was ever a year that we could have used as an excuse to throw in the towel? I’m sure this would be the one. #HonestTalk

Do you know what I think though? I think life is hard, I think work is hard. I think society is hard. I think raising kids is hard. And I think marriage gets blamed for it all. It’s an easy thing to point your finger at. And it’s all too easy to take the weight of the world out on those closest to us.

After nineteen years of marriage, you learn a thing or two. Like allowing the other to feel what they need to feel but never losing sight of the bigger, eternal picture. That every bad day will end, that problems lessen after a good night’s sleep, and that you pivot when needed and get right back to it. Fighting the good fight, side by side, hand in hand, and with all the faith, courage, and grit you got.

The Bearded Gent and I. Merely two imperfect humans, meeting each other in our limitations and fighting for every dream we have written on our hearts. It’s about continuing to choose each other every single day – at our best and at our worst. It’s been about showing up. Choosing to fix things when they break instead of discarding them. As hard as life can be, I can’t think of a more beautiful and priceless thing to have than that.

And I’m just going to continue thanking God daily for this one.
